While just about everything in the Hudson Valley is being labeled “the New Brooklyn,” we can promise you Platty is not the “new” anything. It’s about as old school as you get. Lodge with good bar (check). Fixed double chair (check). Long runs, good vert (check and check) and good snow. Now Brooklyn thanks to the Diamond bar is coming to Platty. (Click that little read more button below to get the deets).

To attest to Platty’s old school bonafides, even a few skiers still rock long straight skis. A few of them with $3.99 stickers on ’em too, and people ski in Carharrts. Now on Saturday, the fine folk from NYC’s largest borough are hitting the hill on Saturday with a road trip planned by the Diamond bar. Yes, the name should give it away. They’re skiers. And, they’re promising an after-party at the bar with a mac-n-cheese competition and après of all sorts.

The forecast promises snow, not to mention a balmy high of 20 degrees, which beats the -5 I skied on Wednesday.
